Powerball

Does winning $625 million this upcoming Saturday evening sound good to you?  It sure does sound good to me, even if $141.3 million of the prize goes to taxes, if I choose the cash option, leaving me with a mere $483.7 million.  While playing any lottery, in this case the Powerball is closely associated with gambling, meaning that the odds are weighted heavily against you winning, there is still an opportunity for you or you and your co-workers to win & win big.  Winning such a large sum of money in an instant would most certainly lead to retirement and the ability to purchase just about anything your heart desires, in cash.  Though gambling is NOT condoned at all or as a reasonable method of earning an income, it is a path that millions of people have in the past and/or will embark on prior to the Powerball drawing Saturday evening.  And who knows, you may just be one of the entrants.

I once heard a former co-worker describe playing the lotto as if you were driving down the highway with your windows down and making it rain or throwing dollar bills out of the window, never to return, unless you slammed on your brakes, made a U-turn, jumped out of your car, ran and scooped up the loose bills before another person did.  Now, whether you elect to try your luck with millions of others, or not rests solely on your shoulders, so too can be assumed with trying your luck with career preparation, achievement and advancement by yourself, without the help of others.  I was one of those students that thought they could handle everything career related, but I soon realized how some tips, resume writing guidance and instructional materials would have expedited my career and set me on a much smoother path than I have taken up until this point at 37 years of age.  I disliked reading books or anything that would conflict with my train of thought because I knew everything.  Today, I absorb as much data, information and guidance as I can.  You may be on the side I used to be growing up or on the side of how I am currently.  Regardless of whichever side of the coin you drift to, you want what is best for you, your family and your career now and into the future.  So what is the harm in collaborating with someone on your resume, reading a book or checking out a relevant case study or instructional material?  All reward and no risk.  Again, the decision whether you want to gamble with your career preparation, achievement and advancement, is up to you.  And if you do play the Powerball and win, congratulations, you beat the odds.  But remember there will still be tens of millions of other people out there that will have to continue preparing, achieving and advancing in their professional career.  Will you choose to gamble with your career?
